When you bring your newborn baby into the studio

rest assured that it will be a peaceful and calm environment as we make sure your baby is comfortable, warm and sleepy. There are some tips I give my clients that help with the session going seamlessly.

Below you can find a whole list of tips what to do before your newborn session.

Newborn sessions are schedule in the mornings around 10:30am. The reason for this is it has been proven to be the best time for those sleepy pictures. Every newborn is of course different and I have gained many skills over the last decade to make sure that the baby is settled into the newborn session smoothly.

Before leaving the house there are very helpful tips that help the process go smoothly.

  1. Make sure to feed the baby full right before leaving the house. This will be very helpful as most babies are asleep coming into the studio and I take over from there.
  2. It would help to dress your baby in a onesie, zip up PJ’s are the best. Avoid putting loads of layers on as undressing could wake the baby. Instead, cover your newborn with lots of blankets to make sure they stay warm.
  3. Bring extra diapers with you and extra milk if you are bottle feeding. Of course you are there to feed the baby if you are breastfeeding 🙂
  4. This step if very important: bring the baby into the studio in their carseat. After sanitizing myself again I will take over from there.
  5. During the newborn session, you can relax and watch from the sitting area and if you like massage chairs, one is available to you for use! It is very helpful to watch your newborn being photographed from the sitting area as the baby smells the parents and there is a chance that the baby will start to wake up.

All the props for the session are provided by me. However, if there is a family heirloom that you would like to bring with you, we will discuss it ahead of time to make sure that it is safe to use during the session.

At our phone consultation, or in-studio, we also discuss your wardrobe. However, it is helpful to bring black or tan t-shirt or top, in case you want to jump in or planned to do parent with baby photographs. I love to include parents into the session so having those on hand is very helpful.

Babybare newborn studio is kept above 80 degrees to make sure the baby is comfortable. I always suggest to wear light clothing so that you stay comfortable as well.

I would love to chat with you if you have more questions!
