Here are answers to the questions families ask most about newborn photography at the BabyBare studio in Plainview, NY.
Newborn sessions are ideally photographed within the first 5–16 days after birth, when babies are typically sleepier and naturally curl into those early newborn poses. The Calm Arrival™ Mini session is also well suited for older newborns, up to 30 days old. If your baby is already past that window, please reach out anyway. Older newborns often make beautiful, wide-eyed photographs, and those sessions are approached a little differently.
All newborn sessions take place in my studio at 709 South Oyster Bay Road, Second Floor, Plainview, New York, with convenient access to major highways. The studio is open Monday through Friday and is closed on weekends and holidays.
A dedicated newborn studio provides a warm, controlled environment designed specifically for newborn sessions. Everything is already prepared — professional lighting, wraps, props, and a comfortable temperature for your baby. You don't have to prepare your home or worry about natural light. Simply arrive, settle in, and enjoy the experience.
The Calm Arrival™ Mini session is approximately one hour. Calm Arrival™ Full and Full Family sessions typically take two to three hours. Newborn sessions are intentionally unhurried, with time for feeding, diaper changes, soothing, cuddling, and breaks whenever your baby needs them.
Newborn sessions are ideally reserved during pregnancy, as availability is limited each month. Most families book shortly after confirming their pregnancy.
Your session is reserved around your due date rather than a fixed calendar date. When your baby arrives, you let me know and we schedule the exact day from there. Early and late arrivals are completely normal and easy to accommodate.
If your baby has already arrived, or you are booking later than planned, please reach out and I will do my best to accommodate you based on availability.
The Calm Arrival™ Mini and Calm Arrival™ Full sessions are baby-only. The Calm Arrival™ Full Family session includes portraits with parents and siblings alongside your baby's newborn images.
Parents can also be added to any session for an additional fee. Full details are on the Newborn Session Packages page.
Yes. Siblings are welcome and can be included in the Calm Arrival™ Full Family session, or added to another session for an additional fee.
Your baby's safety and comfort come first, and that starts with a clean studio.
All props and surfaces are wiped down and steam sterilized between sessions, and every blanket, wrap, and outfit is freshly laundered before use.
Shoes are not worn in the studio, and no outside visitors are permitted during a session — the space stays quiet, private, and clean for your baby.
I have been professionally photographing newborns for more than 16 years and have photographed thousands of babies. My experience includes extensive hands-on knowledge of newborn handling, posing, props, and working safely with newborns and families. Your baby's comfort and safety are always my highest priority.
Very little. BabyBare provides the wraps, blankets, props, and accessories used during your session. Bring your baby's usual essentials, including diapers, feeding supplies, and a pacifier if you use one. Your baby can arrive in a simple, comfortable outfit that is easy to remove.

Here are answers to the questions families ask most about maternity photography at the Babybare studio in Plainview, NY.
Yes.
Maternity photography is available as on its own or as an add-on to your Babybare newborn session.
It is designed for families who want to document both the anticipation of pregnancy and the arrival of their baby as part of one beautiful story.
Both sessions take place in the same Plainview studio, with the same photographer and consistent artistic style, so your images can carry beautifully from bump to baby.
If you would like to include maternity portraits, I recommend adding your maternity session when you reserve your newborn session so we can plan both experiences around your pregnancy and due date.
Most maternity sessions are photographed between 30 and 37 weeks. Your bump is beautifully round by then, and you are usually still comfortable enough to relax and enjoy the session.
If you are expecting multiples, or you have been told you may deliver early, please reach out sooner and we will plan around it.
Please reach out anyway. Sessions later than 37 weeks are absolutely possible, and I simply adjust how we work. We spend less time on your feet, use more seated and supported posing, and take breaks whenever you need them.
The portraits are just as beautiful. There is something about a body at full term that photographs remarkably well.
You do not need to buy anything. The studio wardrobe collection is included with your session, and we choose your pieces together beforehand based on your coloring and what makes you feel most like yourself.
If there is something of your own you love, bring it. Some of the most meaningful portraits come from a piece that already means something to you.
This is the single most common thing expecting mothers tell me, and it is the part you can stop worrying about.
Every pose is guided from start to finish. I will show you where to put your hands, how to tilt your chin, where to shift your weight. You are never left standing there trying to figure it out on your own.
Most clients tell me afterward that they felt awkward for about five minutes and then forgot the camera was there.
Absolutely. They are welcome for part or all of your session, and most families do a mix of portraits with just you and a set together.
If you are bringing older children, I photograph them early while their patience is fresh, then let them relax while we finish your solo portraits.
Your session is photographed in the Plainview studio in a painterly style built on soft light, deep neutral tones, and sculpted fabric.
The result is meant to be printed and hung. Not a snapshot of a season, but a portrait that belongs on your wall as artwork, the kind of image your children will look at one day and understand exactly what they were waiting to arrive into.
Maternity sessions are photographed in the studio. Controlled light and a private, climate controlled space keep the look consistent and keep you comfortable, which matters more at 34 weeks than most people expect.
It also means your session is never rescheduled for weather, which is worth a great deal when you are working around a due date.
On average 2 hours. Sessions are unhurried by design, with time to change, rest, and take breaks whenever you need them. Nothing is run on a stopwatch.
Yes, and it is the most popular way to do it. Both sessions take place in the same Plainview studio, which means one photographer, one consistent style, and a collection of images that carry the story from bump to baby.
Reserving both while you are still expecting is also the easiest way to make sure your newborn date is held around your due date.
The BabyBare studio is at 709 South Oyster Bay Road, Second Floor, in Plainview, NY, in the heart of Nassau County.
Expecting mothers travel from Syosset, Woodbury, Huntington, Melville, Dix Hills, Roslyn, Manhasset, and Massapequa, from across Nassau and Suffolk County, and from New York City.
"I can’t recommend Alina enough. She is patient, creative, and has such a gentle way with babies. Our little boy was so relaxed the entire session, and the photos are everything we dreamed of and more. Alina’s love for her craft shines through every image. These are memories we’ll hold onto for a lifetime." - M. R.
