How long will my newborn session last?

The Calm Arrival Mini session is approximately one hour. Calm Arrival Full and Full Family sessions typically take two to three hours. Newborn sessions are intentionally unhurried, with time for feeding, diaper changes, soothing, cuddling, and breaks whenever your baby needs them.

How long have you been a newborn photographer on Long Island?

I have been professionally photographing newborns for more than 16 years and have photographed thousands of babies. My experience includes extensive hands-on knowledge of newborn handling, posing, props, and working safely with newborns and families. Your baby's comfort and safety are always my highest priority.

What should I bring to my newborn session?

Very little. BabyBare provides the wraps, blankets, props, and accessories used during your session. Bring your baby's usual essentials, including diapers, feeding supplies, and a pacifier if you use one. Your baby can arrive in a simple, comfortable outfit that is easy to remove.

Hi, I'm Alina Ricco, photographer and founder of BabyBare. For more than 16 years I've worked as a Long Island newborn photographer, photographing thousands of babies and the families who grow around them. What started with newborns now spans the whole early chapter: fine art maternity, newborn, and family portraiture, all from my Plainview studio.

My approach is gentle and intentionally unhurried. Whether your baby sleeps the whole session or needs to nurse every 20 minutes, nothing here has to feel rushed or stiff. I'll guide you through the entire process so you can relax, exhale, and be present.

Newborn Sessions

When should I book my newborn session?

Newborn sessions are ideally reserved during pregnancy, as availability is limited each month. Most families book shortly after confirming their pregnancy.

Your session is reserved around your due date rather than a fixed calendar date. When your baby arrives, you let me know and we schedule the exact day from there. Early and late arrivals are completely normal and easy to accommodate.

If your baby has already arrived, or you are booking later than planned, please reach out and I will do my best to accommodate you based on availability.

When does a session take place?

Newborn sessions are ideally photographed within the first 5–16 days after birth, when babies are typically sleepier and naturally curl into those early newborn poses. The Calm Arrival™ Mini session is also well suited for older newborns, up to 30 days old. If your baby is already past that window, please reach out anyway. Older newborns often make beautiful, wide-eyed photographs, and those sessions are approached a little differently.

How do you keep the newborn studio clean and sanitized?

Your baby's safety and comfort come first, and that starts with a clean studio.

All props and surfaces are wiped down and steam sterilized between sessions, and every blanket, wrap, and outfit is freshly laundered before use.

Shoes are not worn in the studio, and no outside visitors are permitted during a session — the space stays quiet, private, and clean for your baby.

Maternity Add-On

Is maternity photography included with a newborn session?

Maternity session is available on its own or as an add-on to your Babybare newborn session.

If you know you would like maternity portraits, we recommend adding your maternity session when you reserve your newborn session so we can plan both experiences around your pregnancy and due date.

When should I schedule my maternity session?

Most maternity sessions are photographed between 30 and 37 weeks. Your bump is beautifully round by then, and you are usually still comfortable enough to relax and enjoy the session.

If you are expecting multiples, or you have been told you may deliver early, please reach out sooner and we will plan around it.

What should I wear, and do I need to buy a gown?

You do not need to buy anything. The studio collection is included with your maternity add-on, and we choose your pieces together beforehand based on your coloring and what makes you feel most like yourself.

If there is something of your own you love, bring it. Some of the most meaningful portraits come from a piece that already means something to you.
